Peaky Blinders deserves to end well.
Peaky Blinders 7 deserves to have a good ending. So in this video up above I just tell my story. But I recorded a video essay/mini rant about my hopes for Peaky Blinders movie coming out supposedly in 2024. I wrote this essay before the writers strike started so I don’t know what is going to be happening with its production. But I will put my thoughts on the story beats for Peaky Blinders, and how I hope for it to conclude satisfyingly.
My Thoughts.
I’m both curious and worried about how peaky blinders will ultimately end. Peaky 6 was arguably the most complicated season so far, because it centers around the geopolitical conflict of WW2. So there’s gonna be a lot of story threads that need to be concluded in order end satisfyingly.
Tommy Shelby is the main character and the main man of the story. He has to balance protecting his family now more than ever after the death of aunt Polly and his spy work on the behalf of Winston Churchill.
He has to make sure his brother Arthur is clean from opium, his sister Ada is safe while pursuing a career to keep their family supported. The safety of his son Charlie and ex-wife, tall queen Lizzie, and the security of his criminal empire and his legit businesses.
Most importantly Tommy has to keep his family safe from the rising fascist movement in England and the onset of WW2. Right now He’s spying on the British Union of Fascists, playing this dubious role where he convinces them that he’s down for their cause (which sucks to watch, considering that Tommy is Romany and, they are fucking fascists!) And while he has defeated some of his enemies (like Laura Mckee, his cousin Michael Gray and his own brother Finn).
My Michael rant. (you can skip down)
Pause. I have to say I really didn’t like Michael’s ending in the show. I thought it was a missed opportunity. Since his appearance in season 2 he seemed poised to be trained by Tommy as his second, and because he was Polly’s son, he was smart and favored by her. So when he starts sabotaging Tommy and showing his hand a little bit, he seems like he’s building strong opposition against Tommy. Which he is, but that is happening regardless. Uncle Jack is the American boss king that Tommy needs to get a hold of. Tommy gets Michael arrested in the first episode.
I mean the show kinda did my boy dirty! Michael is aunt Polly’s son. He’s the cousin that took part in Tommy’s business for years. But in America he just a sloppy bitch! His wife Gina is cucking him internationally, and he’s basically been abandoned by both sides after he gets arrested. Michael had a lot of good build up.
Conclusion.
But Uncle Jack is absolutely fantastic and James Frecheville gives meat to the sinister character wrapped in sheer willful presence.
I hope in Peaky 7 Tommy pulls an inglorious basterds on Uncle Jack, Oswald Mosley and Diana Mitford and brings their downfall.
So yea Tommy Shelby 7 has a lot of complex storylines to conclude and I think they are going to have to prioritize a lot of plot points unless they are going to make an epic movie. Which I don’t mind at all.
But I love peaky blinders so much, and I look forward to Tommy triumphing over evil while paying for his sins.
